Rates Strats - Financial Analyst


Location: London, 1 Churchill Place

Working mode: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site and 2 WFH

Contract: 3 months


Overall Purpose of the Role

Barclays is seeking a skilled and motivated Rates Strats - Financial Analyst to join the team in London. This team plays a critical role in managing the bank's gross notional position with interest rates. The core function of the team is to analyse and simplify large portfolios of trades, ensuring the bank’s risk profile remains stable while reducing the overall number of transactions. This position is a great opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trade Analysis and Simplification: Assist the team with the weekly assessment of trade populations in key currencies. You will work closely with an external vendor to identify opportunities for simplifying and reducing the number of trades while maintaining the existing risk profile.

  • Modeling and Validation: Support the team in modeling the proposed trade reductions and analysing the results. You will help sign off on the analysis to ensure the final, legally binding result meets the bank's requirements.

  • Operational Support: Provide essential support for the team's day-to-day operations, including preparing for weekly dollar cycle meetings and picking up ad-hoc tasks to alleviate the team's workload.

  • Global Collaboration: Although based in London, you will work closely with global trading teams, gaining exposure to international markets and diverse perspectives.


Required Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Mathematics, Economics, or a similar quantitative field from a strong university, with a good academic record.

  • Some knowledge of coding, ideally from university coursework or personal projects. Familiarity with languages like Python or MATLAB is a plus.

  • Experience with data analysis.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues both in London and globally.

  • A fresh graduate is welcome to apply.
