Barclays Payments Product are responsible for defining and developing market leading products that meet the needs of our clients – from small business though to large and multinational corporates - and managing those products though their lifecycle by continuing to enhance and re-define them so that they continue to be relevant and meet our client’s needs and deliver a superior customer experience


Overall purpose of role


This role is to take primary responsibility, working with the Project/Programme Manager and senior stakeholders to identify, quantify, plan and control business analysis related activity on a business change project/programme from initial scoping, requirements gathering, through to operational design.

 

Key Accountabilities


Lead and manage specific project business analysis work streams to meet project targets.


Actively contribute to the realisation of the project aims and objectives, and the contribution of business analysis to those aims and objectives.


Ensure the delivery and presentation of business analysis is to appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan.

 
Undertake business analysis interviews (including organising and facilitating joint requirements planning sessions and working groups) 
Work with business-side clients to produce clear sets of requirements which enable the business to realise their required benefits.


Drive the delivery of pragmatic business and operational design solutions which maximise benefits while achieving the desired business outcomes.


Assess and design new business change processes, systems, products and services on a change project
Provide specialist, objective and analytical insight on all business analysis related activity on a change project.  


Create and maintain clear and comprehensive business reporting and data requirements.


Ensure all governance, risk management, controls and compliance requirements are considered during development of requirements and designs.


Provide an aggregate high level view of the combined proposed solutions and ensure alignment with the change solution and traceability against business requirements. 


Provide leadership and coaching to ensure that all staff are aligned to the goals and culture of Barclays.


Act as a role model in terms of both delivery and behaviour for all staff in Barclays.


Stakeholder Management and Leadership 


Effective management and reporting of own time to deliver against project plan.


Work with the wider project team to understand the needs of each stakeholder throughout the change project, and how these can be fulfilled by the project team. 


Provide analytical support to business stakeholders, project management and leadership team.


Ensure adherence to required processes, escalating where appropriate.


Provide direction and support to BA4, handling change requests and keeping everyone on the project within allotted time constraints. 
Manage and provide objective feedback on Business Analysts during each project ‘assignment’ e.g. conducting peer reviews.


Decision-making and Problem Solving 


Adapt to changing requirements, re-prioritising and changing course as necessary, supporting the wider team in making any necessary changes.


Management of issues and escalations across a matrix structure.

 

Risk and Control Objective


Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.


Understand the appropriate Policies & Standards applicable to my role through reading the Code of Conduct and other training allocated to me. Where responsible for risks and controls ensure that these are appropriate and fit for purpose.  


Where applicable, all key risks identified, tracked, logged and managed as per the Risk Framework procedures.


Where applicable, all key controls to have identified owners, with audit trail of regular review and maintenance together with supporting records.   


Where applicable, all risk events (incidents) or control failures to be escalated, investigated, reported and fixed at root cause to prevent reoccurrence


All mandatory training completed to deadline and understood within given timescales.

 

Person Specification


Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills
Ability to juggle priorities, multi- task and flawlessly execute at speed
Ability to deliver under pressure and to short timeframes.
Highly organised and structured, but flexible in the face of ambiguity or change.


Naturally proactive with a passion for learning.


Analytical, creative and innovative – able to conceive original and practical solutions to complex and business critical problems.


Flexibility in working hours – off-shore teams and deadline driven

 

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:


Knowledge of the roles, responsibilities and value-add of Barclays Change Management Community.


Excellent commercial judgment and overall understanding of the Financial Services Industry, particularly the business impact of the regulatory environment.


Professional communications – making oneself understood, sharing information, listening to and encouraging others to get involved
Understanding of the interface between intricate business needs and the complex legal and regulatory environment in which the business operates.


Knowledge of Group Mandated Business Change methods, standards and tools.


Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:


Formal business analysis and change management training e.g. PRINCE, Agile (or equivalent) and experience of agile delivery.
Preference to be accredited with industry standard BA qualification
Experience of complex projects
