Location: UK wide


Length: 6 months with a possibility for an extension

As a Barclays Senior Data Analyst you will be working as part of our  Financial Crime Analytics and Data Science team that provides support in areas requiring analytics of a quantitative/statistical nature to ensure compliance with Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions legislation.


Working cross functionally with multiple internal stakeholders and partners you would be responsible for deploying expertise in data analytics, statistical inference/modelling, risk management, data visualisation and the generation of complex insights and actionable MI to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our AML program and wider Financial Crime controls.


What will you be doing?


Provide hands-on analytics support to the AML Transaction Monitoring team in areas such as threshold tuning/optimization, customer/account segmentation and data-driven decision making.


Provide analytics support to the AML Investigations team in areas such as the development of case-prioritization scoring processes, enhanced alert-case merging and ad-hoc insight requests.


Engage in innovative PoC/Prototype development activities including data-driven automation, development of interactive dashboards and enhanced AML detection capabilities through machine learning.


Engage with our internal Technology team to provide requirements on the development of strategic data infrastructure


Assist and manage the running of regular analytical processes.


Provide support to aid in the development of junior team members


Support the growth and scope of the Financial Crime Analytics & Data Science team through the generation of ideas.


What we’re looking for:


Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline with a significant Statistics component


Hands-on experience in the use of statistical analysis and data manipulation tools (SAS, SQL, R, Python) – SAS experience preferred.


Experience in applying a wide range of statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g. hypothesis testing, regression, clustering, decision trees, machine learning models).


Experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Sportfire, Qlikview) beneficial.


Relevant experience within a large corporate/Financial Services institution beneficial


Experience in the application of statistical analysis around Financial Crime/AML Transaction Monitoring will be seen as favourable.
