Senior Data Analyst


Location: London (home-based initially)


Length: 6 months

As a Barclays Senior Data Analyst you will be part of our Financial Crime Analytics and Data Science team that provides support to deliver Data Investigation, Analytics and Reporting services to ensure compliance with Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions legislation


What will you be doing?


Mining of the significant volume of customer and transactional data


Data analysis facilitating highly complex investigations


Conduct data profiling exercises to identify instances of illicit activity


Conduct thematic analysis to size the exposure to various threat vectors


Deliver analytical end products and insight to stakeholders


Conduct QA of the work of other team members to ensure accuracy.


Work with stakeholders within Financial Crime to define analytical requirements and liaise with Compliance Technology to highlight and resolve issues relating to data quality and performance of the analytical environment.


What we’re looking for:


Understanding and experience of data engineering and data modelling


High degree of coding ability – significant experience required in: Spark, Python, HUE/SQL (preferably more than one)


Strong experience of conducting data analytics within a Hadoop ecosystem


Experience in utilising analytic tools for data exploration, analysis and visualisation


Computer Science or numerate Degree


Experience within the Financial Services industry would be advantageous


Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong record of experience in building relationships and across technical and non-technical stakeholders

The team is based in our London office, but this position will be home-based
