About the role:

This is a varied role in an area of the business that has a real impact and an ambitious strategy.

Working with the secured lending team, the successful candidate will advise the business on a range of mortgage regulatory matters, both managing issues as they arise and working to deliver various projects and initiatives in conjunction with the businesses being supported. They will enhance the Compliance culture across Product and provide technical guidance, support and tailored feedback on regulatory issues. The successful candidate will ensure that business changes as well as existing processes, systems and controls comply with regulatory obligations and Barclays’ standards and principles.

The successful candidate can expect to be involved in the mortgage business both leading on projects and contributing to wider team and department deliverables.

What will you be doing?

• providing day-to-day compliance and conduct oversight of Barclays Product business;
• providing conduct related guidance and advice on the development of new and existing products and services including an assessment of related regulatory risks;
• demonstrating ownership of issues and breaches, ensuring they are logged and tracked to conclusion and escalated to senior management where appropriate;
• identifying, managing and escalating conduct risks and risk themes within the business;
• interpreting regulatory requirements and regulatory change, as relevant, across a range of topics; contributing towards regulatory engagements, relevant external consultations, discussions and policy debates as required, providing input on assigned Policy and Standards as required;
• supporting the Barclays UK compliance team more widely, including administration of compliance governance and ad-hoc tasks where requested; and
• assisting the broader team in driving a positive Compliance culture within the business and progressing the Compliance Strategy.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong compliance and mortgage/risk management experience
• Communication skills – ability to communicate complex scenarios simply, clearly and briefly, to a wide range of audiences.
• Execution skills – ability to proactively set deadlines for the business and monitor progress, escalating if required; ability to proactively set deadlines for compliance actions and deliver them on time
• Ability to self-learn, be relentless curious and challenge outside of comfort zone. Have interpersonal,influencing and negotiation skills.
• Proactive nature who is willing to challenge processes and look for improvement

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Qualifications from; International Compliance Association (ICA), Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) or Institute of Risk Management (IRM)
