Pension Product Specialist - SIPP
Job Title: Pension Product Specialist – SIPP / Pensions Technical Lead
Location: London – Canary Wharf (Hybrid, 3 days in office: Mon, Tues & Thurs)
Contract: 6 Months
Hours: 9 AM – 5 PM
Contract Type PAYE only
Overall purpose of the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Pension Product Specialist with deep expertise in pension advice, legal and regulatory requirements, and compliance. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of a new pension proposition for high-net-worth clients. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the product aligns with regulatory frameworks and provides a customer-centric experience.
Key Responsibilities
Pension & Financial Services Expertise: Ensure digital solutions align with pension scheme rules, covering Defined Contribution (DC), Defined Benefit (DB), SIPPs, and Master Trusts.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Apply FCA regulations, including COBS, SMCR, Consumer Duty, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), and The Pensions Schemes Act 2021.
Hybrid Advice Models: Navigate FCA guidelines on digital financial advice and ensure financial guidance is clearly distinguished from regulated advice.
Customer Experience & Digital Engagement: Ensure the digital platform supports vulnerable customers and that all customer communications are clear, fair, and not misleading.
Pension-Specific Legislation & Governance: Ensure compliance with Auto-Enrolment rules, TPR Code of Practice, and Pension Freedoms & Taxation regulations.
Agile & Digital Delivery: Work within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) to embed compliance in digital solutions.
Vendor Risk Management: Ensure third-party providers meet FCA and TPR compliance standards.
Skills & Experience Required
Strong knowledge of pension products and governance frameworks.
Experience working in pensions compliance, regulatory oversight, or financial services law.
Prior experience in pensions advisory, IFA, or FCA regulatory roles is advantageous.
Familiarity with NAPA (Barclays' internal governance process) is beneficial.
Ability to develop customer-centric pension propositions and work within a highly regulated environment.
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
CII – R04, FA2, J05, LP1-3, AF7
CISI – Pension Transfers and Planning Advice
Advanced Diploma in Pension Provisions
Financial Planning Certificate (1,2 & 3)
