Barclays
Organisation Effectiveness Specialist
Role: Organisation Effectiveness Specialist
Location: London or Glasgow.
Contract Duration: 6 months
About the Role and Program
As part of the strategy to become simpler, better, and balanced, the Org Simplification programme (Project Catalyst) is a multi-year, enterprise-wide transformation focused on reducing friction, simplifying delivery, and enabling faster, clearer decision-making.
The Organisational Effectiveness team supports this by helping the business remove organisational barriers that slow progress. Working directly with the Director and Org Design Lead, this role will support individual business areas to design simpler, better, and more balanced organisational structures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end activities: Handle project management, org design, and implementation.
Drive Org Health assessments: Track and monitor spans and layers, governance forums, and decision rights.
Prepare for the future: Focus heavily on preparing the organisation for AI implementation and continuing the rollout of agile ways of working.
Collaborate across teams: Coordinate closely with Business HRBPs, Business Management/Chief of Staff teams, external consultants, and workforce change/implementation teams
Experience & Qualifications Required
Professional Background: Experience in a top-tier consulting firm or an internal Org Design role within a bank/financial services institution.
Programme Track Record: Proven experience working on similar programmes focused on org simplification, reducing duplication, and improving cost efficiency. You should be able to share clear success metrics (e.g., efficiency gains, cost reductions, or the size of FTE impacted).
Stakeholder Management: Comfortable working with senior HR BPs, Directors, and MD-level stakeholders (C-Suite experience is highly advantageous).
Systems & Platforms:
Prior experience with Orgvue or Visier is highly desirable.
Familiarity with alternative platforms like PowerBI, Tableau, Qlick, PeopleMaps, OrgBuilder, OTH, or OrgViewer is beneficial and shows transferable skills.
Additional Beneficial Skills: Agile/Scrum or SAFe certifications (like Prosci), or a basic understanding of people analytics (to interpret data).
Adaptability: Ability to stay comfortable and effective as focus areas pivot due to leadership changes, AI adoption, or external factors.
About Barclays

Values
Everything Barclays does is shaped by its five values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship. The Barclays values inform the foundations of its relationships with customers and clients, but they also shape how Barclays measures and rewards the performance of colleagues. Simply put, success is not just about what you achieve, but about how you achieve it.
Diversity
Barclays aims to foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel included and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to Barclays vision and goals.
Hybrid Working
Barclays is currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Barclays is flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. Barclays also has a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances
