Overall purpose of role:
The role holder will act as a senior member of the High Risk CDD team, and will fully support the HRR Team by conducting a full triage of cases produced by the bank’s client risk assessment tool – Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) model.

This is an extremely important role within the team and has the responsibility of ensuring that only true high risk customers are taken through the high risk review (HRR) process in order to ensure that our customers are treated fairly, that we meet our regulatory obligations, and that our skilled resource is used in the right way.

The role holder will play a critical role through the delivery of skilled technical and analytical support, enabling the business to protect its license to trade and meet regulatory policy standards.

Key Accountabilities:
Review and analyse ‘high risk’ cases from the FCRM model to determine and document the reasons why the model has rated the customer as high risk;

Gather additional relevant information in order to make a sound decision as to whether there is agreement with the FCRM risk assessment or whether there are additional factors / evidence (unavailable to the model) which would require a downgrade of the customer to standard or low risk;

Maintain meticulous records of all information gathered in relation to each case, a full and detailed log kept of all decisions made, clear reasons as to the decision and ensure a full audit trail is readily available;

Prioritisation of all confirmed high risk cases in line with policies and procedures;

Responsibility for dissemination and scheduling of the prioritised cases to the HRR Teams in line with policies and procedures;

Coach team members, and act as a point of contact for queries, escalating to the Head of High Risk CDD where necessary;

Support the Team Leaders to ensure that team workflow is managed in the most effective and efficient way;

Collate team management information and report as required; and

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the HRR process, including in relation to the FCRM model itself, and within the wider business and work with Team Leaders, Coverage team, clients and internal partners to improve processes.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Educate stakeholders and the network around the importance of KYC and ensure engagement such as proactive contact is professional, timely and efficient.

Forward thinking solutions should be identified and appropriate solutions recommended to senior stakeholders, ensuring that risk is prioritised and all our regulatory commitments are achieved.

Work to resolve issues and prevent/mitigate complaints across the team, both regionally and nationally ensuring
customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

Decision-making and Problem Solving
Partner with and escalate to internal areas, including the Complex KYC team, High Risk Onboarding team and Risk Assessment Unit (RAU).

When appropriate, challenge and negotiate on areas of KYC policy with internal teams and exercise judgement when faced with subjective scenarios, in order to ensure the appropriate level of diligence is undertaken and complex KYC cases / issues are resolved.

Risk and Control Objective:
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays policies and policy standards.

Person Specification:
