You will be joining an exciting team on a new project to deliver several new global services used directly by the business. These will be used by over ~380 users and represent a key part of our strategy. This strategy is to transform our area delivering new services with next generation technology and modern practices.

We are replacing older C++ services - whose function and requirements have changed compared to today. As part of this work, analysis of the existing system and requirement discovery will be needed. This is a great opportunity to deliver improvements for the firm. All of these sub-projects offer great exposure to linear products and working with the business.

  • Backend focus with UI-awareness for BFF interaction

  • Production support and L3 rotation engagement

Culture & Distributed Team Dynamics

  • Rigorous code reviews and craftsmanship (avoiding AI slop)

  • Collaboration across distributed teams (14 people, 4 cities)

Sub-projects & Responsibilities

  • Permissions management

  • Controls for marking and spreading

  • Delegation of controls/group management

  • Providing different levels of control from instrument level, book, sector

  • Administration functions, auditability, and security of prime concern

Pricing Service (Backend For Frontend)

  • Support Bond Curve configuration screens (add constituents to the bond curves)

  • Multitude of functions to support UI interaction for pricing

  • Pricing blotter support

  • Adapt messages to proprietary Pricing Engine format sent and received over Solace

  • API design to be flexible – reuse where possible for curve construction for Rates, FX, and other problem domains

About Barclays

Diversity

Barclays aims to foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel included and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to Barclays vision and goals.

Hybrid Working

Barclays is currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Barclays is flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. Barclays also has a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances
