About Finance Business Architecture


The Finance Business Architecture (FBA) function was established in 2019 to support Finance in transforming its operating models, data and technology; and to define the Finance of the Future. We investigate business requirements through assessment of existing operations and target state outcomes, in order to translate into a functional user stories for the purpose of technical or process related change.

We collaborate across different Functional Transaction Cycles (FTC’s) to maintain design standards across their initiatives, facilitating cohesion and alignment of outcomes for Finance as a whole.

 


Overall purpose of role


This role will hold responsibility for specific analysis, design and oversight elements of specific initiatives within the broader Finance Transformation program. You will be “hands on” supporting transformation activities to ensure outcomes align with finance architecture strategy.  


The role will be varied, depending on the initiative and the stage in the project life cycle requiring FBA support. This will include data analysis, process assessment, and future state operating model/process design, promoting best practice design concepts and solutions.


The role will give you exposure to the forefront of finance change, and experience across the breadth of Finance and Barclays.

 

Key Accountabilities


The Finance Business Architecture Analyst is accountable for supporting specific initiatives as part of the overall finance strategy for financial reporting. This will include: 
Working with Financial Control and Group Consolidation teams to understand and document current and target data flows and processes.


Translating business requirements into user stories or functional design specifications to support technology development of GTB, data and process change;
Analysing data to support detailed business requirements; 
Preparing topics for review with Finance, Project & Technology stakeholders.


Documenting elements in support of data taxonomy, reference data and calculations.


Design test plans and operational change controls.


Support functional testing execution and reporting.

 

Risk and Control Objective 


Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

 

Person Specification


Personal attributes essential to performing role including competencies, expertise, knowledge, and experience.  Note: experience requirements must not be in the form of years (minimum or otherwise).

 

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:


Financial services experience, within retail and/or investment banking;
Knowledge of Financial Reporting (e.g. Statutory Reporting, FINREP, GSIB, BOE), Finance processes including consolidation / Inter-company, systems and technologies.


Appreciation of data principles, including data modelling and data design; Front to back and Source to Reporting data / system flows
Experience as Business Analyst in finance transformation Data programs and/or Finance data warehousing / Finance system implementation programs.

 


Academic or professional qualifications


Finance process experience relevant to the Finance reporting role (e.g. Statutory, FINREP, GSIB, BOE etc.), details are available through the resourcing team.


Technology transformation experience relevant to the role, details are available through the resourcing team.
