About Trade Operations


Trade Operations UK is responsible for the Client Servicing and the front and back end processing for Trade.


Finance products including Collections, Letters of Credit (LC), Trade Loans and Bonds Guarantees & Indemnities (BGI) as well as Sales Financing.


Overall purpose of role

Responsibility for undertaking a pre scan check on documents presented under import /export collection and letter of credit transactions received from Correspondent Banks, direct from customers or domestic branches.

Responsible for scanning, indexing and matching prints to files.

The jobholder works in a team environment, dedicated to processing high volumes of work with speed and accuracy, within strict deadlines.

To engage with stakeholders and global Operations teams to support the delivery of the Trade strategy.

Key Accountabilities

Process Import and/or Export Collections and Letters of Credit work accurately and efficiently to meet agreed service levels and volumes and maintain customer service. 

This will involve:

Perform pre-scan checks on inward mail received under Collections & Letters of Credit and where necessary.
Verifying that certain criteria have been met.
Endorsing bills of exchange/bills of lading.
Issuing release notes.
Verification of correspondent bank and branch signatures.
Prepare scan cover sheets.
Performing necessary anti-money laundering checks including responsibility for identifying fraudulent documents.
Contacting customers and other areas of the bank to resolve issues identified by yourself or BSS.
Completing post activity using DHL and Royal Mail

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise
Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.



Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

Procedures for security and confidentiality.

Previous experience of working in a Trade environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the workings of the different products.

Previous experience of working in a customer-servicing environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the types of issues and problems which occur.
