The Data & Analytics team at Barclays is dedicated to leveraging scientific methods, algorithms, and systems to extract valuable insights from structured and unstructured data. Overall purpose of role

As an Assistant Vice President in Data & Analytics, you will design, develop, implement, and maintain sophisticated statistical, mathematical, and machine learning models. These models will support decision-making by analyzing and solving complex problems, and will be applied across various domains such as credit risk assessment, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and marketing optimization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Gather and integrate data from multiple sources, including internal databases, external datasets, and real-time feeds.

  • Perform data cleaning and pre-processing to ensure high data quality and suitability for model development.

  • Design, develop, and implement statistical and machine learning models for various business applications.

  • Continuously monitor model performance in real-time, identifying potential issues or biases.

  • Identify risks and develop policies/procedures to enhance control and governance.

  • Work closely with other teams and business-aligned support areas to stay updated with business strategies and activities.

  • Engage in complex analysis of data from various sources to creatively and effectively solve problems.

  • Communicate complex information clearly and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.


Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, data extraction with SQL, Python, and the ability to use SAS.

  • Expertise in statistical and machine learning model development.

  • Strong data management and pre-processing skills.

  • Ability to monitor and maintain model performance.

  • Experience in risk management and governance.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in credit risk assessment, fraud detection, customer segmentation, or marketing optimization.

  • Knowledge of data acquisition from diverse sources, including real-time feeds.

  • Familiarity with collaborative work in cross-functional teams.
