Business Oversight Compliance Specialist
Location: London
Length: 6 months with possibility to extent
Pay rate: 525 per day *PAYE only*
We are looking for a Business Oversight Compliance Specialist to join the team on a contract basis. This senior role leads Business oversight activity within the Financial Crime function, facing off into business stakeholders while providing advice to the business on new and existing products, propositions or services to ensure a clear and effective framework is in place to mitigate the potential for Financial Crime risk.
They will act as a trusted adviser and will be a key player to support the business. As such, a high level of intellectual curiosity and flexibility on working practices is required. The role holder will provide advice, training and compliance challenge to first line colleagues and their senior management team on a wide range of related issues.
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder management
Proactively contribute in all applicable Governance and Oversight Fora providing clear and insightful financial crime guidance, including escalating any risk and control weaknesses.
Drive the provision of tailored financial crime advice and provide strategic steer to inform and challenge the business direction / strategy which is responsive to changes in both the internal and external environment e.g. provision of advice on emerging threats & vulnerabilities.
Support in managing Financial Crime risks effectively through setting of clear standards of compliant business practice, assessing and reporting on the implications of regulatory change at a senior level; providing guidance and interpretation of rules and regulations, as well as leadership and oversight on issues such as financial crime standards and senior management responsibilities.
Review and challenge the businesses financial crime risk assessments across the control environment and risk profile.
Be a leader within Business Oversight Compliance, creating an environment in which staff are empowered, supported, challenged and responsible.
Actively contribute to and engage with the wider Financial Crime function to achieve consistency and the sharing of knowledge. The role holder will also work very closely with other Compliance, Risk and Legal colleagues in order to deliver a coordinated approach.
Skills:
Ability to promote a culture of financial crime compliance, including the ability to build relationships and collaborations with all levels of management within the First and Second Line.
Experience of working with stakeholders at Directors/MD level.
Have significant experience of delivering high quality anti money laundering support, with day to day interaction with senior executives.
Strong technical skills in UK financial crime law and regulation and a solid understanding and working knowledge of financial crime risk and responsibilities.
A change manager and project leader, be comfortable in fast growing and complex environments, and be able to move effortlessly between strategic topics to day to day regulatory risks.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate will ideally have a degree level education and academic track record.
Professional qualifications relevant to financial crime and/or relevant legal qualifications are desirable.
Strong understanding of industry best practice in respect of financial crime risk tools and developments within the regulatory environment.
