Overall purpose of role


The role holder will develop and maintain “customer focussed products and propositions” and related customer and colleague journeys across BUK to deliver critical business outcomes in the form of customer adoption, customer satisfaction, colleague experience improvement and commercial outcomes. They will design end-to-end products, propositions and journeys to delight their customers. They will have a good understanding of the customer pain-points/opportunities and are able to use these to input into the proposition vision/roadmap which aligns to the wider Barclays strategy. 


The role holder will be responsible for the lifecycle of their propositions, working with various internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve the customer experience based on data, research and feedback. They will input into a product and proposition roadmap and influence ongoing iterations, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on the vision. They will be responsible for embedding business and operational readiness, including servicing. Considering the regulated nature of financial services, they will have a good understanding of regulatory compliance and effective risk management with the requisite controls.


Key Accountabilities


Work collaboratively with colleagues across various functions in BUK and BX to identify customer needs within the Savings & Protection business area.


Create new propositions or change existing propositions and related journeys to satisfy these customer needs and deliver commercial outcomes.


Work with colleagues across BUK to build the business case taking into account customer usability, technical feasibility, commercial viability and business viability for new initiatives that need strategic investment from the bank.

 

Stakeholder Management and Leadership 


Take a leading role in cross functional teams across BUK and BX technology teams to deliver agile propositions and optimise resources to reduce time to market and cost. 


Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders in group functions, BX, business functions and external stakeholders to get buy in for the product or segment strategy. 


Drive product/proposition launches and promotional plans including working with public relations team, colleague communications and senior leadership in the bank. 


Be responsible for making key priority decisions when faced with technical, operational or resource constraints.

 

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:


Experience of proposition development and delivery – including customer insight development, proposition design and delivery planning.


Strong organisational skills, proactivity and ability to balance competing demands of multiple initiatives.


Strong analytical and commercial skills – understanding of, and ability to understand complex data, develop simple messaging, and communicate to stakeholders, and the commercial consequences of proposition decisions. 


Ability to work across a broad range of stakeholders and adapt styles – in order to build strong relationships, influence outcomes and where required challenge based on client / business insights

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:


Knowledge or experience of managing a feature backlog, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, working with design and engineering teams to shape, build and release new propositions, analysing and optimising the proposition performance
Experience of implementing Agile methodologies and utilisation of project/demand tracking tools such as JIRA.


Ability to communicate to and effectively influencing Senior Stakeholders through briefings and presentations
