Overall purpose of the role:

This role supports the "Consistently Excellent" programme’s risk and control workstream, focusing on enhancing colleagues’ level & operational ability with regards to Risk Management through digital credentials.

The key goal is to achieve accreditation for these credentials by 2025, with their integration into broader risk processes by 2026. The role also drives the evolution of the current badge system into the advanced "Be Precise" digital credential, promoting excellence in digital control and risk management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support multiple workstreams on Governance, Risk Management, and related areas.

  • Lead the development and delivery of a new Barclays risk and controls digital credential.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to C-suite level executives.

  • Ensure all accreditations feed into the risk process by 2026.

  • Work effectively under significant pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in all deliverables.

Key Skills:

Essential:

Tier 1 Banking Experience: Proven track record of working within a Tier 1 banking environment.

Experience with Regulatory/Change Programmes: Experience running projects and programmes related to regulatory orders or significant change initiatives, particularly where these involve external scrutiny (e.g., working with internal and external audit teams). Experience of managing projects resulting from regulatory failings at a bank is beneficial, e.g., S166.

High-Pressure Environment Experience: Ability to perform under pressure and in stressful situations.

Large-Scale Programme Experience: Experience of managing large-scale, complex programmes.

C-Suite Level Presentation Skills: Advanced PowerPoint skills are crucial. Candidates must have demonstrable experience creating and delivering presentations to senior management (C-suite, SteerCo, ExCo), demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and the ability to create high-quality, impactful presentations for intense scrutiny. Must be able to create packs that face intense scrutiny and are ultimately delivered to SteerCo with 4 ExCo members.

Project/Programme Delivery Experience: Proven experience running projects and programmes in a pressurised role. The level of seniority sought likely blurs the lines between managing individual projects and larger programmes of work.

Project Management Methodology: Prince2 certification or demonstrable equivalent change management experience.

Complex Stakeholder Management: Experience of engaging and influencing multiple stakeholders.

Working in a Highly Scrutinised Environment: Experience in a regulatory or consent order programme, or another environment subject to considerable scrutiny. Must be used to stressful situations and have experience in running projects and programs in a pressurised role.

Desirable:

Risk & Controls Experience: While not essential, experience in Risk & Controls within a banking setting is a plus. This would demonstrate a good understanding of the business context.

This role offers unparalleled exposure to senior leadership, complex programmes, and high-stakes projects. It's a challenging but incredibly rewarding opportunity for driven professionals seeking to work in a dynamic and impactful setting. If you're ready to make a real difference, we encourage you to apply.

Hybrid:

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.
