Overall purpose of the role 


The Portfolio / PMO Analyst will support the Mandatory Risk and Control Portfolio Lead and the Head of MRC in overseeing and analysing the Portfolio of projects with a Mandatory, Regulator or Control lens.


CIB SI planning & Execution is a highly skilled and diverse team responsible for identifying, setting, articulating and managing delivery of projects across the Corporate & Investment Bank.  We work closely with other Groups across Barclays and have Teams based in London, New York, Prague, Glasgow, Knutsford and Northampton.


Markets and Banking Mandatory, Risk and Control Change Execution’s purpose is to safeguard the firm’s revenue and reputation by delivering a seamless and consistently excellent MRC change experience. The role will be responsible for analysing project data and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to program managers and stakeholders


The ideal Portfolio / PMO Analyst will have proven experience working in a large Portfolio environment within a Financial Services institution and have the ability to work with large MS Excel data dumps. Previous Tableau or PPM tool experience would be advantageous. 


Key Accountabilities: 

  • Developing target state, designing and documenting changes required to pensions operating model, including existing or new processes, systems, data and governance

  • Definition of comprehensive documentation including business requirements, process flow diagrams, colleague journeys etc. using workshops, other elicitation techniques and process review sessions

  • Developing and implementing solutions to meet business needs whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Gather information, analyse options and make data-led proposals to management on a variety of topics

  • Support project manager to manage deliverables with workstream leads and business readiness activity

  • Communication / reporting to key stakeholders / groups to keep them informed of key changes and potential impact of the project outcome through published status report



Key Skills: 

  • Portfolio Oversight: Monitoring and managing the portfolio of projects within the program office, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and strategies.

  • Analysis and Reporting: Analysing project data and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to program managers and stakeholders. This includes tracking project progress, identifying risks and issues, and proposing solutions to optimise portfolio performance.

  • Resource Allocation: Assisting in resource allocation across projects within the portfolio, ensuring that resources are effectively utilised to meet project objectives and deadlines.

  • Documentation and Governance: Maintaining accurate documentation of project information, including project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports. Enforcing governance processes and standards to ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitating communication and collaboration among project teams, program managers, and other stakeholders. Providing regular updates on portfolio status and performance to ensure transparency and alignment with stakeholder expectations.

  • Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, V Look ups, conditional formatting) and PowerPoint skills, ability to work to short deadlines

  • Stakeholder and communications management: The ability to effectively communicate with, influence and manage stakeholders at all levels, taking account of their levels of influence and interest.

  • Previous experience working in a Portfolio Office environment within Financial institution

  • Ability to master and navigate new subject domains quickly

  • Experience with PPM tools would be ideal

  • Professional qualifications (e.g. P3O, Prince or other Project Management methodology) would be advantageous
