Operational Implementation Analyst


Location: London, Hybrid Working

Length: 6 month initial contract

PAYE only 


Overall purpose of the role 

The Operational Implementation Analyst will play a key role in the implementation and management of Barclays UK Pension allocations within the OPAM (Operational Asset Management) framework. The team is responsible for ensuring operational due diligence such as legal reviews, oversights of the investment agreements and coordinating with legal/compliance. 


The Analyst will be responsible for managing cash and asset movements using the Aladdin system to set up assets, manage trade workflow and management of all relevant data. The role will also support a project focusing on asset transition and relevant portfolio management system changes. Previous experience working in custody, asset management operations or in an operations consulting environment subject to process change governance and controls, and preferably have experience with portfolio management systems - specifically Aladdin. 



Key Accountabilities: 

  • Operational Implementation and Operational Transition Management

  • Help manage transition management process for change to investment manager portfolios and regulatory changes as a result UKRF pension scheme sectionalisation.

  • Create and maintain operational transition project plans and liaise with project leads.

  • Understanding of investment asset allocation strategy, including custody set-up, operational due diligence, contract negotiation and funding.

  • Onboarding and set-up of new clients on internal systems and portfolio management systems.

  • Advise key stakeholders on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.

  • Aladdin platform data management including trading support and positions management.

  • Ensure appropriate policies followed and records maintained to document implementation decisions and approvals via the portfolio management system.

  • Produce operational test plans and documentation and participate in implementation user acceptance testing.

  • Assist with transaction planning and execution of instructions through the OPAM’s portfolio management system in a timely manner.

  • Assist with internal and external stakeholders, such as investment managers, lawyers, custodians, transition managers and Barclays Pensions team to ensure appropriate legal agreements in place and effective operational structure is in place to support investment transitions.


Key Skills: 

  • Proven experience using BlackRock Aladdin portfolio management system (specifically, knowledge of Aladdin Data Management process or Aladdin trade workflow).

  • Asset management back-office operations experience

  • Experience in a transition management environment - including asset movement.

  • Previous experience in pension consultancy would be advantageous.

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent and/or studying towards IMC or preferably CFA study

  • Knowledge of segregated and pooled investments across multiple asset classes (i.e. fixed interest, equity, alternatives etc)

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Knowledge of investments instruments particularly derivatives
