Overall purpose of role

The team develops and implements structured solutions including fund solutions and investment mandates to meet the needs of selected distribution channels or for client transactions and optimises the structure and location of activities within Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank. The team has a cross-asset and cross-business mandate.  The role is based in London, but transactions may occasionally extend across regions.


Key Accountabilities

Platform governance and product management:

  • Enhance reporting/MI to evidence governance and management of manuals/policy documentations.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on ongoing requirements for the funds and platform

  • Contribute to pipeline prioritization and platform change

  • Lead governance activities including lifecycle management of product range in adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal Barclays policies and procedure

    Distribution support:

  • Support distributor on-boarding including related due diligence, governance approvals, contract negotiation and implementation; and post implementation oversight, reporting and governance

  • Coordinate country registrations to support marketing activity.

  • Prepare marketing materials and work with Sales on prospects and pipeline activity to raise assets in existing funds and contribute to new mandates’ origination

  • Market research, assessment of client demand/needs and in collaboration with Sales, Structuring and other specialist teams within Markets and Research

    Due diligence for and over third parties:

  • Ensure an appropriate control framework including timely delivery, appropriate sign off and continuous improvement of output

  • Coordination of DD requests made by Barclays to service providers and distributors including helping establish an appropriate control environment for periodic review. 

The role will require:

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills are key in determining how to meet investor needs, to interpret regulation and to plan for the future

  • Technical knowledge and experience across regulatory, legal and compliance areas in order to propose/support commercial decisions



Person Specification

  • Extensive experience in financial services

  • Technical background (to understand, explain and prepare documentation on funds and strategies; simulation e.g: backtest or other quantitative analysis); A good understanding of derivatives and quantitative investment strategies will be a plus for this role

  • Experience of managing regulatory change preferred

  • Assimilates new material quickly, is able to learn about different parts of the business and adapt thinking to new situations

  • Details oriented and able to dive deep into strategy/regulation details.


Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of asset management / platform businesses and broad investment knowledge

  • Solid experience working with Python, including writing code

  • Hands on attitude and team spirit


Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in asset management industry preferred, or transferable skills in other platform role such that can be applied to proactively solve problems and understand the fund operating ecosystem 

  • Knowledge specialised in equities and equity derivatives

  • CFA charterholder (or candidate pursuing / willing to pursue CFA designation)
