Finance Analyst
Job title: Finance Analyst
Location- London or Northampton/ Hybrid 2 days per month in the office
Contract length: 6 months potential extension

Job Purpose
The role holder will join the Provision Analytics and Tax shared service team which supports our full Remediation portfolio. This role will own the financial planning (provisions) for remediation projects, including ensuring funding is in place for the amount we need to return to customers (redress) and the cost of delivering the projects to achieve this. This will involve collaborating with Finance, Product areas and Project teams to ensure that these provisions are raised independently and monitored and controlled throughout the delivery of the project.
Barclays provides a broad range of products that meet diverse customer needs. As a result, the Remediation projects that we manage can be both complex and impacting a large volume of customers. Effective Financial control of these projects is one part of our approach to ensure that we achieve the right customer outcomes first time, ensuring that our customers receive a positive experience in correcting mistakes that we have made.
Accountabilities
Providing clear and appropriate communications to stakeholders on changes in customer redress and costs
and what this means in terms of the overall Financial plan.
Cost control and regular reporting to senior stakeholders
Regular collaboration with and influencing key stakeholders in Product and Finance teams.
Carrying out financial analysis to support the allocation of costs to remediation projects.
Supporting Barclays Values across the portfolio
Regular and ad-hoc financial reporting for committees and forums
A focus on continuous improvement, challenging and evolving the way that we do things to become more
effective and efficient
Production of quarterly management accounts providing analysis and insight to support stakeholder
Understanding
Regular collaboration with CR Directors and Project Managers to lead them through the financial plan for
their portfolio and projects
Assisting the CR Directors in their updates to the Accountable Executives (majority will be Directors or
Managing Directors)
Presenting updates to Finance Business Partners across BUK and BPF and working with them to accurately
build in the financial implications for each project
Facilitating and supporting the external audit process
The role involves gathering, analysing, and communicating insights from large data sets. The role holder
must be comfortable with data and have the ability to assess and draw conclusions from it, with a particular
focus on financial data which is relevant to the remediation portfolio.
As a subject matter expert on the data, the role holder will need to be able to make judgements and
decisions based on the data with the ability to communicate the rationale for these decisions to stakeholders in a way that gives confidence on the approach taken without necessarily needing to explain all of the component parts of the data. It is this ability to identify the key points and facts and sharing them
simply and confidently with stakeholders that build the foundations for strong collaboration and trust with our
stakeholders.
To be considered for the Finance Analyst role you must have the following skills and experience
This is an important role that ensures that the correct financial control of remediation projects is undertaken. To
achieve this the role holder will need:
To be comfortable working with large amounts of data, and a keen interest in understanding what the data is
telling us particularly from a financial perspective.
Comfortable using data analysis programmes such as Excel
The ability to work in the detail but communicate the big picture and key points that need attention.
A people person, being able to build strong relationships within the project teams but also with our stakeholders in the business and functional areas.
An innovator, comfortable challenging the status quo and seeking opportunities to do better, both individual and as a team.
A strong communicator comfortable working with and influencing stakeholders at different levels and developing strong relationships
Communication / able to effectively influence senior members of the Remediation Programme
Excellent planning, prioritisation, organisational and time management skills
Ability to meet regular and ad hoc deadlines, working under tight timescales

Desirable skills
Prior experience in a Data Analysis, Finance, or Accounting roles.
Able to learn new concepts quickly and communicate these simply to stakeholders.
Competent at Excel (e.g. comfortable in preparing pivot tables and carrying out look-up functions)
