An Employee Communications Manager (AVP) level at Barclays plays a pivotal role in engaging and influencing employees to achieve the organization's goals. This position involves developing and implementing insight-based communication strategies in partnership with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Communication: Utilize systematic insight research to help senior leaders understand employee sentiment, enabling empathetic and effective communication.

  • Business Strategy Alignment: Develop communications that build belief in the organization's strategy, emphasizing the impact employees have on the client experience.

  • Culture and Employee Proposition Communication: Design initiatives that promote behaviors aligned with the Barclays Mindset, showcasing the organization as a great place to work.

  • Change Delivery: Create communications that build employee commitment and capability during organizational changes.

  • Crisis and Issues Management: Collaborate with senior teams to manage crisis, focusing on the role of employees in engaging clients.

  • Capability Building: Lead and develop a high-performing team, enhancing individual skills and team capabilities. 

Assistant Vice President Expectations:

At Barclays, an AVP is expected to advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaboration with other functions and business divisions is essential.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Communication and Influence: Ability to connect with and inspire others, communicating in innovative ways to lead flexible and geographically dispersed teams. Excellent writing skills, with a strong success rate of curating across multiple channels. Story telling is a key part of this position, translating complex and technical messages into clear and simple and well articulated stories, that all colleagues can understand and relate to.

  • Digital Savvy: Understanding the digital landscape to ensure relevance to customers, and using digital tools to enhance collaboration and efficiency. Writing on different internal channels, such as Intranet/ Viva Engage/ Social Media platforms/ Internal Forums.

  • Planning and Organizing: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives.

This role requires a driven individual with excellent writing, data analysis, and content creation skills, focusing on employee engagement within Strategy and  organizational changes.
