Location: Glasgow 

Contract length: 6 Months ( potential extension )

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 37 Hours ( Hybrid 2 Days per week in the office )

Barclays Bank PLC  are currently recruiting for a Change Manager to join the HR Optimisation Team. This role offers Hybrid working and is 2 days per week, Wednesday and Thursday in the office in Glasgow and 3 days remote working. The contract is initially for 6 Months but due to the nature of the project may get extended.

The successful Change Manager will be joining a team of 35 - 40 employees. The Change Manager will ideally have worked in Financial services, especially working on HR specific projects and managing Business and transformation projects. Organisational Development/ Tooling/ Implementation and Design are all key elements of the Change Manager role.

Responsibilities of The Change Manager:

  • Lead / support the launch and embedding of change projects across the HR function and wider business 

  • Own the change engagement model and act as delivery and /or advisory consultants for the delivery of change  

  • Manage central repository of key information

  • Keep colleagues within HR optimisation informed of TC, HR, and Key wider business news.


  • Primarily this role will work alongside the project leads to own and deliver the change management elements of a specific project. This will include development of a change management strategy for the project, including communication and engagement plan, operational readiness planning and execution, benefits realisation. 

  • This role will support the implementation of new technology across the business leadership teams and the stand up of a new service and associated processes and methods to strengthen organisation effectiveness.

  • The successful candidate will ensure the change engagement plan is delivered to a high standard, to support business rollout and embed through a clear colleague engagement and training programme.

  • Responsible for conducting change impact assessment 

  • Ownership of Comms and engagement and interface to other projects including stakeholder analysis

  • Develop and execute the change management plan for the downstream impacts of the project (including communication and engagement approach; user training needs and approach)

  • Senior stakeholder engagement 

  • Work with third party vendors to support the change plan & training accordingly  

  • Support stand-up and embedment of community of practise / super user network 

  • Develop business readiness plan that ensures adoption and embedment of new methods and tooling 

  • Develop & over see benefits realisation plan 

  • Work with Project manager to formally close out the project

  • Work with the Project lead to undertake stakeholder assessments and develop comprehensive stakeholder management plans that consider both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Takes ownership of the communication plan for key stakeholders/groups to keep them informed of key changes and potential impacts through appropriate channels and methods.

  • Ensures systematic problem solving where options are evaluated and decisions align with the values.

  • Adapts to changing requirements, re-prioritising and changing course as necessary

  • Ensures any decisions are made with consideration of the short and long-term impact on key stakeholders.


Essential Skills/ Basic Qualifications required for the Change Manager role:


  • Has extensive experience of understanding and translating business requirements and project solutions, into change delivery strategy and plans 

  • Ability to engage with change recipients, understand their needs, create and/or execute plans for successful delivery of the change

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels

  • Proven ability to effectively influence and communicate change at all levels 

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Delivery Focus

  • Knowledge of working within HR processes and systems

  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do. 



Desirable Skills/ Preferred Qualifications required for the Change Manager role:


  • Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • Org Modelling tooling (preferably Org Vue) 

  • Organisation Design experience (methodology /tooling) 

  • Experience of working within a change delivery function

  • Ability to work across multiple work stream, division, and geography

  • Strong team working skills, including working effectively within a remote team

  • Project management experience – understand and have experience of influencing project delivery planning and phasing
