We are looking for a Margins Optimization Middle Office Associate to join the Collateral Margin Services (CMVS) team which is responsible for developing best practice to meet industry and client demand, driving compliance with the growing market and regulatory requirements, and building a scalable Enterprise framework for Barclays future. Our focus is to ensure high levels of control and efficiency across our processes, a proactive approach to managing risk and improving processes, and to partner closely with business and infrastructure teams to support the effective use of capital and balance sheet resources for the firm. 


Overall purpose of role?

This role contributes to the day-to-day margin activity as well as the successful delivery of regulatory compliance.

The Collateral and Margin teams are a key first line of defence function and this role is required to ensure strong delivery, control and oversight of potential risks as well acting as a central point of contact and accountability for Trading and Operations, and to support all levels of business initiatives. 

The team sits between the Counterparty Risk, Collateral Optimisation and Liquidity Trading desks, and also deals with the lifecycle management for some Portfolio Management and Corporate Loans structures. 


What will you be doing?

  • Effectively communicate and escalate issues within CMS and with traders and other support functions across all global locations.
  • Monitor UCSM Triparty Collateral accounts
  • Daily Secured funding of internal derivatives books involved as source or user of collateral
  • Capture, validate and Record vendor prices for structured trades
  • To assist in the Funding reporting and validations on T+0
  • To ensure all margin requirements are met with CCP 
  • Daily Secured funding of internal derivatives books involved as source or user of collateral 
  • To assist in new trade on boarding and the booking setup including counterparty and book setup
  • Manage the structured loans and Bonds portfolio trades including Risk and funding transactions
  • Capture, validate and Record vendor prices for structured trades
  • Partner with colleagues in IBMO, COU, Operations, Finance, Risk & Legal functions in a Global context to drive delivery on key business initiatives and objectives 
  • Ensure a robust risk and control framework is in place across the group with clear management information, escalation and analysis where required
  • Propose and drive efficiencies, process improvements and risk management initiatives across function(s)
  • Actively contribute to and help lead the definition and shape of the global CMS function and needs

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong quantitative and numerate skills
  • Additional knowledge of Triparty collateral process would be an advantage
  • Credibility and influence in order to proactively manage diverse internal stakeholder groups including Sales, Trading & Product Control
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including relationship management, communication and teamwork
  • Track-record of delivery in a significant business-facing role
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Direct experience of the OTC derivatives and securities margin products or collateral management functions would be a significant advantage.
  • Preferable experience in Liquidity Management, Treasury functions and rates products
  • Solid grasp of the fundamentals of Collateral Optimisation across a range of products
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders simultaneously
