About Product Control

Product Control is primarily responsible for understanding, substantiating and controlling the daily trading balance sheet and income statement for Barclays Investment Bank. This includes the production of a comprehensive daily trading P & L and balance sheets.

Overall purpose of the role

The Fixed Income Credit Product Control Group, within the Global Finance Department, is about to embark on the analysis and implementation of a new Strategic Loans settlement and subledger system Loan IQ.

The core responsibilities of the PC Project Controller will help the PC team in analyzing the accounting, core bookings and valuations within Loan IQ.

Key Accountabilities

• Facilitate the implementation of the strategic project of the Loan IQ implementation 
• Utilize knowledge of system infrastructure and control framework to recognize and challenge potential infrastructure efficiencies and control gaps
• Strong stakeholder engagement; be able to work with key stakeholders in regards to pre-implementation accordingly within the Loan IQ system
• Be able to utilize product knowledge and strong controls of Loans to improve challenge potential infrastructure efficiencies

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in numerate subject 
• Prior experience in a product control role in the implementation of Loan IQ or a good working and understanding of Loan IQ
• Strong accounting and technical knowledge of secondary traded loans
